SynerCool is a forced air chiller system that is private labeled for Syneron by Zimmer. The use of forced chilled air is beneficial for epidermal preservation, pain management and to facilitate particularly aggressive laser treatments, and more.
The SynerCool has a tube which directs the cold air through a nozzle. The nozzle tip can be clipped into a holder on an articulated arm. Use of the arm allows the operator to have both hands free for treatment. The nozzle is pointed to an area that is being treated with the laser and this “numbs” the local area from pain stimuli as well as keeping the epidermis chilled to prevent thermal trapping from excess heat. Some practitioner’s hand-hold the nozzle so the air can be focused directly on a specific area for extra chilling. This concurrent chilling is a practical solution to preventing adverse reactions and managing patient discomfort during procedures.
For hair removal and skin rejuvenation treatments, the SynerCool is sufficient to keep the patient comfortable. Any uncomfortble treatments can also be done with SynerCool in lieu of topical anesthetic for pain management. A small minority of patients may require topical numbing cream due to high pain sensitivity.
Many users employ their SynerCool during needle therapies such as Botox or filler injections for pain management and prevention of bruising. Also, sclerotherapy injections are better tolerated when administered with SynerCool chilled air.
